Intention…the special ingredient. The force that truly commands. And, Is Deep Tissue Really the Approach you need?

I invite you to enter this intimate space ~ to explore to often unspoken. This is a conversation that will continue through other posts, and a conversation that crosses many fields and industries. I’m sharing my words as I prepare for some upcoming changes to how I work. Thanks for reading!

As  I’ve deepened my work working in the Biofield, using my tuning forks and immersing my perspective in the electrical universe, I confirm that the power of intention is really at the core of any work…

My journey with Biofield Tuning has really invited me to deepen my trust in the gift of my intuition, and oracular skills. This is one of the most precious relationships I have developed in my adult life, and mostly in the last five years, after swimming through muddy waters and stripping away at traumas and layers of identity holding me from seeing my gifts, and then having the courage to believe in them and myself! What a beautiful journey it’s been! And I’m excited to see how things are unfolding as I continue to trust myself.

I know I’ve always been a devotee to learning and understanding how things work, be it our bodies, or the universe, but as I go along this path of awareness, it is all one in the same! It’s so exciting to live at a time when all this universal wisdom is converging to support our human experience.

I’ll get more into the electric universe in another post, because that being the basis of my outlook on the operating systems of the bodies (physical and non-physical), it’s important to explain a few things. If you want to dive more into plasma, check out my teacher and mentor, Eileen Day McKusick’s books: Tuning the Human Biofield and especially her second book, Electric Body, Electric Health, written with exciting yet digestible explanations of the science behind plasma, bio photons, and the electric universe!

Coming back to what I want to share in this piece, I am going to get into some honest truths here, so you can have a better understanding of what it is you might need or not during your bodywork session.

There is a misconception that deeper pressure is going to give you better results! Results meaning, softer muscles after digging in, releasing knots and tensions…let me start here, and boldly state, that everything is relative! I will consider three main components to why certain techniques or approaches may or may not be appropriate.

May we consider:

Hydration of tissue

Mobility / suppleness of tissue texture

Command of one’s nervous system (through breathwork and control) and discernment between discomfort and pain.

And really look at:

Deep tissue vs deep pressure vs adequate pressure (on a given day) vs appropriate technique.

When I’m working with you, I’m not just applying a massage technique to soften your tissues or release a knot…

This is what commanding intention looks like when I work…

I talk to the body…I arrive with curiosity and groundedness, holding space for it to feel safe to open the conversation and share with me what’s going on.

I work with the elements.

I talk to the fluids in the cells, the waters that carry all the intelligence of your being, and when there is resistance, especially in the fascia, I ask the body to soften. I listen for your breath (or invite you to breathe deeply)…I ask the tension to tell me or to allow me to provide it with comfort, so it may soften.

I engage with the body itself, through touch, the earthiness of your being…sensing your reception and comfort to touch…is there contraction? Are you holding (even unconsciously)…have you softened? How receptive is your body?

I feel into your vitality…what is the quality of your Inner Qi, your fire? Is it circulating? Is it burning in brightly or has it been dimmed?

I feel into the quality of your breath, your air moving through your vessel…how is your body opening itself to welcome each breath? Are you breathing shallowly in the upper chest, or holding your belly. Are your ribs giving you and your organs the space? Or are you opening fully breathing into the belly, nourishing your being and all of its cells with this vital life force?

I sense with my being (my energy), your field…what is the quality of your biophotons circulating through your toriodal field? What is the plasma asking? Where is it feeling stuck?

When I am not successful (given a time frame and the application of technique or pressure doesn’t allow me to see the results I could expect), then I look at what is going on that is preventing this release?

First, hydration of the body…, and  then the holding of the body, is there contraction (fear)? How is the breath? The technique is only effective if there are other variables present and in play as well; the tissues need to have sufficient hydration: fascia (connective tissue) is not vascularized (has blood flow) like muscle tissue, this, it gets stiff and stuck faster, and is more tensile, rigid, due to its collagenous nature, and thus it requires an adequate amount of consistent hydration to be malleable and mobile for the soft tissue manipulation techniques we use in massage.

In our extremely stressful environments, many are chronically stressed, thus chronically dehydrated. Stress creates contraction in the body (even unconsciously, if we’re aware of it or not). This restriction reduces the flow of all fluids in the body: blood, interstitial and waters (both for hydrating cells and for moving cellular debris and wastes out). These days, the chronic dehydration often leads to increase tension in the body. Many clients will say, “but I drink a lot of water.” Let’s upgrade the 8 glasses of water per day idea in this era of chronic stress, bad air and poor postures…8 glasses might have be adequate in another time and under different conditions.

Time to be realistic and fine tune our individual needs to reflect the individual realities we live.

Another factor is mobility. Many clients will say, “but I drink a lot of water”…and then…they sit for 8+ hours…either at a desk, driving…traveling…or watching something on their couch or bed…the body needs mobility. It needs to circulate that hydration through itself to get to the layers of cellular fabric that are all stuck and keeping you stuck in stress patterns, postural fatigue and not contributing to your vitality. The body’s tissues need daily stimulation (dynamic movement) to get this water you’re drinking, around and in between all the layers of tissues.

When we apply techniques, we are introducing an input to the body, signalling it to do something. That input could be an acupuncture needle, or a soft tissue manipulation technique like applying pressure to a trigger point or meridian point…we are merely facilitating a conversation with the body and its pattern, introducing the input to activate a response of opening, release, circulation…

Depending merely on hydration and tissue texture and movability, the technique can facilitate this opening of the tissues, it could take under a minute or several minutes…

The physical is a result of what has already happened energetically. The body is a response to what has been imprinted in your field around you from a previous moment. Thus, when we attempt to address the physical, I may ask a lot of questions about what else has been going on in your life…major transitions (work, moving, relationships), what are you actually grieving? What frustrates you? What takes you away from slowing down and caring for your vessel, your home?

When I feel I’m not successful with providing you with enough of a release, sometimes our treatment may be more of an educational session about understanding your body a little more. I appreciate those who take this information as simply information, versus a judgement, and want to use it to improve their quality of life, rather than see it as they’re not doing enough, or the right things, and failing…

Our modern lifestyle has become increasingly challenging. I feel you and feel for you. I myself find it difficult to create the boundaries I need, in order to take care of my vessel. I lived a hard lesson watching my own mother deteriorate under stress and succumb to a non-holistic medical system that only treats symptoms…I learned quickly what stress can do to the body and how dis-ease can manifest. I still have a hard time making choices…to get up and stretch (doesn’t mean I do a long yoga session everyday! Nope! I listen to my body), to hydrate intelligently…I rest! I rest a lot! I choose to do work that allows me to take rest when I need it…sure high season can be tricky to navigate, but this is where our true values are put to the test! I am with you. Lifestyle changes, take time! Yet, time is relative. If you’re really ready to apply changes, then, you do you, and things will flow.

When I work, I use these moments of connection to your body and field, to understand what I need to do (what technique or input I need to offer in that moment) in order for the body to unwind and release. Sometimes that may look like applying pressure, or a lot of pressure, or holding a limb or the head in a position for a couple minutes without trying to impose anything, and allowing the body to speak – my “work” is in the listening and responding (with more listening as we go deeper into a release, or to change the technique, or to know we’re complete here).

What are your values? How much are you willing to compromise of your body, the vessel that allows you to live on this earth? How much are you willing to compromise your wellness for mediocre quality of life? Or exchange your life force for mediocre standards? We are meant to thrive…with each breath. Not through compromised postures that reduce our breath and circulation…not schedules packed with perceived activity that kinda makes us feel good…this illusion that if I am busy, then I have value…do you value rest?

I see you. I’ve seen you when you’re lit up from really living your joys and passions, when you feel whole and embodied. I’ve also witnessed you when you’re dried up and closed off because you must remain on automatic pilot; when your light has faded, your vitality has lost its glow, your spark turned ember, struggling to revive itself with the shallow upper chest breaths you take when you’re stressed or sitting in bad posture.

I’ve seen many of you through these contrasts. I’m ready to take you more seriously. Are you?

Perhaps you receive the subtle hint that I am leaning to offer longer, session-based care…allowing us to work together in a more integrated way, weaving the full breadth of my training and modalities into each session to serve the many dimensions of your being — creating the space for your body to open and release in ways that simply don’t happen when we’re limited by time or focused only on specific knots and tensions. Because in my belief, everything is connected. Let’s play in the quantum and go beyond what just a massage could offer you.

Big change is coming to how I work. There will be a transition. And the shift will be me stepping into the kind of care I have been wanting to provide my whole career. Not bound by timelines and insurance policies, but expanded to meet the requirements for addressing our traumas and releasing shit, so we can get to the point of thriving in this world today, now.

This, real work…is what I desire to do.

This, real work, is not just a head to toe massage.

Breaking out of the box of what serving a community really looks like…in whole, integral ways…

This work requires your full presence — not perfection, just willingness – and perhaps ways you’re not used to when you arrive for a massage. I’m asking for your commitment to yourself, not just to a session. And I ask that you trust me to listen to what your body is telling us both — and to follow where that leads, even if it’s not what you expected.

Come whole, or come when you’re ready.

My Energy, my Life Force has higher standards than my human ever allowed for. As I integrate my gifts and the true value of my experienced hands and intuition, they are finally merging and inviting me to step up.

What’s your wellness, your peace of mind, or inner peace, or sense of security, freedom, worth to you?

I invite you to continue into the next part of this conversation:

It Takes the Time it Takes. You Can’t Rush Healing

further unveiling where the path of my work is leading me.
